What's it all about

The upkeep and facilities provided at the house are completely self-funding and provided at a minimal cost at the point of use. We rely totally on the support of our donors and local volunteers to provide much needed breaks for those who wouldn't otherwise get them. We have had considerable support from local businesses and shops who regularly provide raffle prizes for the events we hold which are a great way of generating funds and interest in what we do. Our Wall of Fame shows how people have helped us to keep this worthwhile charity alive. If you feel you can contribute in this way then please let us know.

Throughout the year various events are held which go a long way to providing the £25k per annum that the house needs to operate effectively. Private and corporate donors offer cash and/or much needed expertise to maintain and constantly improve the facilities on offer. This much appreciated effort means that thousands of visitors can enjoy time out of their everyday lives to experience all that Mellor and the surrounding countryside has to offer.

There is no doubt that this service is needed. Over the100 years of Mellor Country House's existence the demand for respite breaks has been constant. Back in 1907 the House offered an escape from back-to-back city living. Whilst we may not be offering a breath of fresh air to our guests today, the stresses and strains of modern living means that families and children's groups are in as much need of a break than ever.

Every penny of the money raised goes towards the upkeep, maintenance and improvement of Mellor Country House which is reflected in the annual accounts.
