The Charity only employs one person, Sharon Adamson, as the live-in House Keeper. Sharon has come from a nursing background. Her knowledge has been invaluable in the running of the house and for its visitors. Over the last ten years Sharon has been instrumental in the organisation of the house and the increase of its guests by 100%. Her consistent enthusiasm and hard work for the Charity has encouraged the local residents to become involved and supportive to our cause.
Management Committee
The Management Committee consists of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds giving hours of their time freely, taking on the different roles within the committee.
Our current President continues the link with Manchester Cathedral, also linked with the Salford area. In 2007 we elected a new Chairperson, a good contact to have to spread our availability to the catchments areas he works in, the original area where our first visitors came from.
Also in 2007 we elected a Deputy Chairperson who has been a volunteer since visiting us from John Lewis as a representative of their Charity Committee. In 2004 John Lewis was encouraged to take Mellor House on as their Charity of the Year when a lot of outside work was carried out by a Management Development Team.
Our Secretary also joined us after volunteering from John Lewis as our Furnishing Advisor in 2004 and now also helps on our fundraising days, the Summer Fair and Christmas Delights, catering for our supporters by providing cream teas and sandwiches, mulled wine and mince pies.
Our Treasurer has been a loyal volunteer with us for 26 years compiling all our accounts ready for the year end at the end of March.
Our Assistant Secretary of the Local Committee is David Adamson who lives at the house with his wife Sharon. David provides up to date information on the upkeep and maintenance of the property and its expenses, quite often doing the work himself when he can, after a full time job as a Civil Servant.
Other Management Committee members regularly give their support in the decision making through out the year. These include Self - employed business people, another employee of John Lewis, and two more business people from the local area.
Local Committee
Our Local committee is made up of a variety of people, male and female from all walks of life, in the local area. They are very willing to give their enthusiasm, energy and time on a regular basis to arrange our fundraising events and support us, which, with out a doubt maintain the funds for the Charity. We are totally dependant on their efforts and donations as we receive no other funding and they are an asset we could not be without. By holding car boot and table top sales, our annual plant sale, and our summer fair, they provide a fun way of raising funds and a great chance to benefit from the "feel good factor".
